Long story long

I’m a 2D Animation Director at Monks, but I was 14 years old when I first hit render and watched a quirky animation of a fake newspaper with my photo on it spin around the screen. That shook my world. Back then, I spent endless hours on Windows Movie Maker enjoying myself while creating little cringe animations as birthday gifts for my friends. Imagine my surprise when, a decade later, I discovered that I could actually get paid to have all that fun.

It was a long journey from university to different advertisement agencies and video production companies across Brazil and The Netherlands. Each step taught me new software, important skills, how to work with people and the importance of continuing to learn. I even got the chance to create way less cringe videos for brands like Google, Unilever, Meta, and Coca-Cola collaborating with artists that I’ve always admired along the way.

I often think about how proud teen Bruna would be if she knew how far we’ve come. As most adults in this late stage capitalism, I try not to lose the connection with her to keep me inspired and to share that with the amazing professionals I have around me. To never forget that little drop on the stomach I felt when I first hit render.
